"Right Thought: Renunciation and Making Space" with Alex Meyers This Sunday

Dear Community,

Sunday 10am Community Practice & Discussion

The Buddha tells us:

"Whatever [one] frequently thinks and ponders upon, that will become the inclination of the mind."

Based on this recognition, we are invited to cultivate thoughts of three flavors: renunciation, lovingkindness, and compassion.

To encourage these wholesome thought patterns, Joseph Goldstein suggests it is necessary for us to recognize those patterns which may not be serving us: to anger or fear, to pleasant sensations, to wanting, or maybe even to thinking itself. By identifying what doesn't lead to peace and contentment, we can open space in the mind for what does. As Jean suggested last week, there is an opportunity to surrender the more painful, vigilant mind states, and be available to the loving heart.

Join us this Sunday to continue discussion of the Noble Eightfold Path, with inspiration from Joseph Goldstein's talks here. This week we will focus on Right Thought, the second path factor.

All are welcome. Registration and Zoom information available here.

With metta (loving-kindness),
